Overview of Broot (Navigate directory trees)
Broot is an open source program for browsing and navigating directories of any size via the command line. Allows you to search for files, attach custom shortcuts, and manipulate them without breaking the folder hierarchy. The command line function br (admin) is required to run and use the Broot software. The software is designed to let you navigate folders with minimal keystrokes, even if you don't remember the location. The program is very fast and never blocks even when searching on a slow large disk (any keypress interrupts the current search to start the next search).
Functions of Broot:
- Get an overview of a directory, even a big one
- Find a directory then
cd
to it - Never lose track of file hierarchy while you search
- Manipulate your files
- Manage files with panels
- Preview files
- Apply a standard or personal shortcut to a file
- Replace
ls
(and its clones): - Sort, see what takes space
- and more.
